YWCA LAUNCHES NEW 21-DAYS OF ANTI-RACISM CHALLENGE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – April 3, 2023 -   YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is launching a brand new 21 Days of Anti-Racism Challenge on April 17 to build community around racial justice and equity issues. The Challenge, presented by The Harnisch Foundation, is designed to create dedicated time and space to develop more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, and privilege. The Challenge is a virtual learning tool that seeks to help individuals and organizations grow in their comfort of having difficult conversations.  Click here to register.“Our mission is eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all,” said Sharon K. Roberson, President and CEO of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. “Now more than ever, it is crucial that we continue our racial and social justice pledge. This initiative will help strengthen our racial justice muscle. We hope participants will come out with a broader perspective of their world and a hunger to keep learning while rooting out inequity in our communities and organizations.”Beginning on April 17, participants will be sent a daily e-mail and be presented with challenges on four topics – Disability, Housing, Music, and Mental Health. Challenge-takers will be prompted to read an article, listen to a podcast, reflect on personal experience and more. Participation in the project is intended to help individuals discover the origins of racial and social injustices that continue to impact our community today.  It is designed to be a flexible learning tool where individuals can engage in the activities on their own time and schedule.YWCA is grateful to our presenting sponsor – The Harnisch Foundation – for stepping up to support the initiative. Jackson National Life Insurance Company® (Jackson®) continues its support as the Peace Sponsor, and LP Building Solutions signed on as the Justice Sponsor.About YWCA Nashville & Middle TennesseeFor 125 years, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee has helped women, girls and families in Nashville and Middle Tennessee build safer, more self-sufficient lives.
