The YWCA's Adult Education Program offers comprehensive services for those looking for assistance with improving their literacy, earning their GED or advancing in English Language skills.

The YWCA offers FREE GED (General Educational Development) classes at five sites in the Nashville area - morning, afternoon, evening and Saturday classes are available.
All YWCA teachers are certified by the State of Tennessee and work with students in a typical classroom setting to improve math, language and reading skills needed to pass the GED test.
SERVICES OFFERED BY THE ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM INCLUDE:
- Instruction in all areas of the GED (writing, math, literature, science and social studies)
- Adult Basic Education instruction is provided for ESL (English as a Second Language) students to help them advance in language, reading and math skills
- Assistance in setting and obtaining educational goals
- Administration of TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) to assess student progress
- Provision of FREE GED Practice tests
- Financial Assistance for the cost of the GED test for students who score an average of 480 on the Official Practice Test
Adult Education is partially funded under an agreement with the Department of Labor & Workforce Development, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville.
