Stand Against Racism

The YWCA's Stand Against Racism 2010 is a partnership of 65 YWCA Associations throughout the country with the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life to raise awareness that racism still exists.  We are expecting that approximately 200,000 people nationwide will take a Stand Against Racism on April 30, 2010.

The YWCA of Nashville will hold a public event at 1608 Woodmont Boulevard on April 30th that will include guest speakers, readings about promoting equality for all people and materials for attendees.  You are invited to join our staff and others from the community as we share our commitment to this cause.  The event will last about an hour.  The time of the event will be announced soon.  Leading up to the event, we invite everyone to take the pledge to stand up against racism:

Pledge Against Racism

As an individual committed to social justice, I stand with the YWCA against racism and discrimination of any kind.

I pledge to challenge any expression of racism in my presence by my family, my friends,
my co-workers and those I encounter.

I will commit to a lifetime of promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all
people in my community and in the world.
