The YWCA is looking for someone who would like to work overnight, on an as needed basis only, as a domestic violence crisis counselor. As a PRN Overnight Crisis Counselor, you will answer our crisis hotline, giving appropriate responses to callers, and you will also provide direct-care services to women and children who are temporarily living in our Weaver Domestic Violence Center. You will need a high school diploma or GED and related experience to be considered; Bachelor degree is preferred. You will also need to have very good communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and organizational skills; fluency in Spanish is a plus. You will be working with a great team of professionals who are dedicated to our Mission and to providing the highest level of service to the women and children in our shelter.

If you have a desire to help children who are fleeing domestic violence begin the journey to healing, this could be the perfect job for you. The YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee has two new part-time positions for a Children’s Activities Counselor who will ensure delivery of quality recreational activities and childcare for children living temporarily in our domestic violence center. Qualified candidates will have proven ability to create a safe and creative environment for children, to organize activities and motivate children to participate, to effectively interact with and engage children in play, and to manage groups of children ranging in age from infant to teens. You will need a high school diploma or equivalent and one year relevant experience, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills to be successful in this job; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are bi-lingual and are fluent in English and Spanish.

Hours for one position are Monday-Thursday 8am - 2pm. The second position will work Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10am - 4pm and Wednesday 12 - 6pm.

If you are a cook and looking for a part-time job, this may be the right place for you. The YWCA has an opportunity for a Part Time Cook to work in our residential shelter and prepare the dinner meal for up to 50 women and children. Providing the evening meal for our residents provides the physical nourishment they need and also a warm touch of hospitality that means so much at the end of a long day. Responsibilities include assisting with meal planning, keeping the pantry organized, and maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas. High school diploma or GED, 1 year relevant experience and pleasant demeanor required. Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time. Mon-Fri. 1-5 p.m.
