Associated Builders and Contractors Adopt Weaver Domestic Violence Center
Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) has generously committed to renovate and update the Weaver Domestic Violence Center over the last six months of 2008. ABC is a 400-member organization led by Board Chair Dan Brodbeck, president of American Constructors.
"Under Dan's leadership, ABC's philanthropic efforts could save the YWCA as much as $250,000 in repairs. This is an extremely generous gift," says YWCA CEO Pat Shea. The Weaver Center has provided over 85,000 bed nights of safety to the community, since opening in 2000. "There is a lot of wear and tear on the facility. Most available dollars have to fund the program. Routine maintenance is usually the last thing to get our attention and our dollars. Women and children who come to us for safety will benefit greatly from this contribution," Shea concluded.
The four phases of the work will include waterproofing the building, repairing the exterior, repairing the interior as well as updating the mechanical, plumbing and electrical equipment.
"Both the YWCA and the Associated Builders and Contractors have been an integral part of this community for many years," says Brodbeck, who is leading the process. "We at the ABC are proud to be partnering with the YWCA in this venture."
